Well, why not? Here in the US, the county's leader is a nut job who is making life for the lower classes almost impossible, meanwhile, the Dow is hovering just below 23,000 points, so life is GREAT for the moneyed classes and upper middle class. As long as the "right" people benefit, then it's all good!

North Korea's Holiday Resort and Understanding Kim Jong un's political goals
by fulltimestudent inreuters news agency published a north korean perspective, a little different to most recent reports which focused on this small nations bombs and rockets.. today's story was about the resort town of wonsan - a seaside resort in north korea's where the report claims that the kim family has a residence.
i'm posting this reuter's report because it may provide some balance to the way westerners may imagine north korea.. the main focus (by western journalism) is on nk's nuclear tests and missile tests and nothing else.
that aspect is, without doubt, a matter of deep concern.

Do they take the GB seriously?
by Tech49 inso this is an honest question that i have been thinking about for some time.. do regular jehovahś witnesses in other countries (other than the usa) take the governing body in new york seriously?.
i mean, i cant help but wonder about the publishers in japan, or south africa, or mexico, or new zealand, or even the uk, or spain, or italy...... or russia?.
not you and i (we know what you think of them), but the regular jwś...... do they take these american buffoons seriously?

Kinda hard to watch an encouraging video WHEN THERE ISN'T ANY FREAKING ELECTRICITY ON THE ISLAND OF PUERTO RICO!
Why do I have this cartoon sequence in my head where a truck screeches up to a congregation group, unloads a generator, Big Screen TV, and DVD player, hooks it up quickly, plays the message, then, just as quickly, dis-assembles it all, loads up the truck, and screeches off....

The only way I would enjoy the words "Don't Give Up" in an arena setting is if it were sung by Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel live on stage.

A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a married couple, who know that opening it will grant them a million dollars and kill someone they don't know.
(I'm sure it was "pressing the button" ... maybe that's the book version I read?)
So they take the box apart and decide that it doesn't contain anything so can't really harm anyone, and they press the button.
The creepy guy who left it returns, notes that they have pressed it (it's a test) and as he's leaving says "I'll give this box to someone else ... someone who doesn't know you"
Yes, the person who dies is the previous owner of the box. If you refuse to press the button, you save yourself.
Everyone fails the test. The 80's "Twilight Zone" adaptation episode plays out like you describe. The original story is more darkly funny.
In the original short story, the plot is resolved differently. Norma presses the button, and receives the money—after her husband dies in a train incident where Arthur is pushed onto the tracks (the money was the no-fault insurance settlement, which is $50,000 instead of the $200,000 in the Twilight Zone episode). A despondent Norma asks the stranger why her husband was the one who was killed. The stranger replies, "Do you really think you knew your husband?"
Matheson strongly disapproved of the Twilight Zone version, especially the new ending, and used his pseudonym Logan Swanson for the teleplay.

Follow up: the baby did not survive
by Captain Schmideo2 init was always a long shot anyway.
but, after a week of emotional pain for the mom, and extreme physical pain for a helpless infant, the baby's body finally succumbed.. all those prayers from the parents, from family, from friends, were absolutely worthless.
that is a deity for ya!

Steel-Okay. I will wait until one of my family members passes away before I express an opinion. Thanks for setting me straight.

I think I need to make something clear: This happened to a woman at my old hall, no relation to my family. She had been posting updates all week long on Facebook, and actually posting updates on her condition through her pregnancy. My posting was just observation of the ridiculousness of the belief in "the power of prayer" and in religious beliefs in general.
In a matter of great timing, Betty Bowers (America's Greatest Christian (tm) ) just posted a video this week that pretty much sums it all up!
